We practice CPR (catch, photograph, and release) on all trips.  Conservation of our resources is of the utmost importance to us.

Our full day trips don’t have a set time limit.  We really don’t like to leave the fish biting so we will fish as long as conditions and safe running light allow for it.  While Salty Fly is a guided fly fishing service, we do provide conventional spinning gear for days where the wind is not conducive for fly fishing.

What’s Provided:

All our trips are fished out of an 18′ technical poling skiff with a casting platform on the front.  Fly rods, leader material, flies, as well as spin cast rods and reels, are available to all our anglers.  We have a camera on board and will help capture all the memories of the trip.  That being said if an angler wants to bring their own equipment that is fine, within reason.  There is a limited amount of space on the boat so plan accordingly.  We provide cold water and sports drinks on full and half day trips.  We do not provide food but have a cooler to keep food cold.  We can stop for breakfast or pickup lunch upon request.

What to Bring:

A good pair of polarized sunglasses and a hat are two of the most important things we as sight fisherman need to have on the water.  Sunscreen provides necessary protection against the harsh sun and is a must.  The temperature is colder in the winter and warmer in the summer in the marsh so proper clothing for the time of year is crucial to your comfort.  The possibility of rain almost always exists in Louisiana so having a rain suit is a good idea as well. You will need to purchase a 3 day non-resident Louisiana fishing license for your trip. The cost is $8.00/person and you can purchase it by phone with a credit card (Visa or Master Card). The phone number is: 1(888)765-2602 and operators are available 24/7. You will need to ask for a (code 79) non-resident license, the operator will have you write down an authorization number which you will need to bring on the boat. Make sure the license is valid for the dates of your trip.
